Use Internet on BlackBerry without BIS Plan

On most of the BlackBerry cell phones BIS Plan (BlackBerry Internet Service Plan) is required to use internet. BIS Plan is offered by various cellular companies on postpaid connection and its cost is starting from Rs.500 plus security.

Now if you have a BlackBerry set and dnt have BIS Plan than no need to worry. we will tell you how to use internet on BlackBerry set without BIS Plan so Cheer up. Just you need a BlackBerry handset and active Internet connection on your number. Keep in mind The BlackBerry Application wont work on it and you need third parties Softwares Like WhatApp (Click to Download) , OperaMini (Click to Download).




Here is the Tutotial

Step - 01

Go to Menu > options > Advanced Options > TCP/IP









Step 02: Write The APN (Access Point Name)












APN (Access Point Name) is different for All Mobile Networks. If you dnt know you can ask your Mobile Netowork Operators. I am writing here the APN for Different Mobile Companies for your convenience.

Pakistan

      1. Warid  =  wap.warid
      2. Ufone =  ufone.internet
      3. Telenor = wap

India

  1. Airtel – airtelgprs.com
  2. Vodafone – www / portalnmms / web (any 1)
  3. Idea – internet
  4. BSNL – celloneportal
  5. MTNL – mmsmtnlmum / gprsmtnlmum

      i am using 8520 blackberry with airtel prepaid connection and its not working even after i have updated the APN . When i restart my phone it shows EDGE(capital) but after few minuts it automatically turns to edge(small) again

    Howto setup this on blackberry 8800... there is a option for tcp then there is no such checkboxes.. it just asks apn, username for apn and password for apn... since i am using idea sim so i entered internet as apn then saved it and got back... but my opera mini is not working nor any other third party app... please help me.

    The same settings are valid for all application. May be your using already installed facebook application and it wont work. you install other facebook application on blackberry. you can download that from here http://www.mobilezmag.com/2012/08/chat-on-facebook-v2094-for-blackberry.html

    @Admin: Hi..I own a curve 9320....I am a newbie as far as Blckberry is concerned and thus I am learning things...i was able to use gprs as per your insructions. But now I am not...I am entering the ap name and enabling it but its not working...earlier it was working...2-3 days back...I also noticed that that GSM has come up with the network bar signals...earlier it was edge...also I activated only BBM on my fone using the 129 plan of airtel..I was able to use bbm without wifi but now its not working...m guessing all the problems are related...can u help ?

    Hi guys,
    I just started using BB and I figured out few things
    1. if you are on IDEA (the network I use) you may either have a BIS plan or a gprs plan and the customer service confirms that both cannot be used at the same time it should be either of the both
    2. If you are not interested in BB services (which you will in a few days) and interested in 3rd party applications you can simply download Blackberry Software for Desktop (For the drivers) and then goto online store (install Blackberry world plugin) and install the apps directly on your phone through your laptop or pc. This needs no additional services to be activated (not BIS for sure)

    See the point being there is no third party application that is soo intriguing for you not to take BIS and BIS itself is not great as it doesn't allow you to use third party applications.

    So try both, use the one which makes you feel better ( I myself was mad at the service providers regarding this but im sure you will also get used to it)

    Dear Anagh first check Apn is enabled or not. Goto Options than advance setting than TCP/IP and APN . enable it

    apn name os : portalnmms

    I have Curve 9320 model and a Tata docomo prepaid connection.

    Also my 2G GPRS plan is active.

    As guided by you I have altered settings of TCP IP...however my whatsapp and any other third party appps requiring interenet are not working.

    It worked on my BB 9650. I am able to use internet without BIS. Thanks a lot for this!!

    1 issue though: My whatsapp works fine for 20 mins after a hard restart. But then stops working. All other apps also behave similarly. But i am still able to continue browsing on the browser.. only the apps are failing.. i have to restart phone every 30 mins or so and each restart takes 2 mins :( .. any help is greatly appreciated.

    just download opera mini from BB world, download also kakao talk, install it then restart, you can see that kakao talk automatically connect to the web, just look at your signal icon, then open your opera mini, be patient to wait because it is conneting to the web and setting up its configuration... also before you do this make sure to check on TCP/IP and enable the APN settings and write internet on the APN...

    i m using blackberry 9800 and airtel for network....as per instructions i entered the apn and all applications started working whats app and wechat...bt after sometime it stopped on its own...den after restarting my phone they again start working but stopped after a while..what shall i do..please help me....

      Mr. Tarun, bro I have the same problem on my bold 9700 @airtel.

    I m using idea and I stay in india. I have put the APN as internet. It shows the edge in capital but still the applications are not working. Whatsapp worked for sometime but stopped again. What should i do to make it work.

    I've BB 9720 and its awsome.... Currently I've configured multiple e-mail IDs on my phone and are working fine with BIS plan of IDEA India..... I want an answer to one question.... If I deactivate my BIS plan and went back to regular 2G GPRS plan, will I be able to access my e-mails..... If yes then advise how.....

    I want as how to use blackberry bold 9650 with vodafone delhi or airtel delhi network on normal GPRS packs.

    Actually i am using Vodafone Delhi postpaid connection in my Blackberry Bold 9650 verizon unlocked.. i am having normal GPRS pack activate on connection with vodafone live as well ... I am able to use my opera mini, UC browser and whatsapp for few minutes say 15-20 minutes once i restart my device .... and post 20 minutes it stop working.

    Again it start working once device would restart again... have already changed my APN to WWW/portalnmms/

    Please check the issue and suggest me a possible way out to deal with.
